School News

Year 10 Exam Timetable and Guidelines

Our Year 10 students will be undertaking their end of year exams in the Multi-Purpose Hall during Week 5. The Exam Timetable and Guidelines Exam Timetable and Guidelines document has been distributed to Year 10 students and parents/carers via email and hard copies are available from the School Office.

BUSH TUCKER GARDEN

School Events

Calvin Christian School Primary Parents are invited to the following event with Channel Christian School:

RIBIT Day

On November 29, students on the Primary campus will celebrate RIBIT (Reading in Bed is Terrific) day. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to wear their pyjamas to school, and enjoy some extra time in the Library enjoying a hot chocolate.

It's all about celebrating the pleasure of reading.

In Our Classrooms

Year 5/6LB have been leaping and bounding their way through the long jump, cheering their respective teams loudly, and busily contributing to the completion of the bush tucker garden.

Year 3/4 H have been writing procedures on a topic of their choice. From completing a pirouette, playing minecraft, making ice popsicles, riding a horse, swapping pokemon cards, or putting your hair in a plait or bun, 3/4 H have written procedures to help you get started!

Year 9 Food Technology students have been busy! They have had visits from Tasmanian Hospitality Association and prepared delicious high teas!

Congratulations

Phillip was awarded a High Distinction (which is the top 3%) for Year 5 students in Tasmania, in the Australian Mathematics Competition. He also received the Best in School award.
Lukas also received a High Distinction in the Year 7 level of the competition.

Out and About

It has a been a big few weeks on the Primary Campus with the start of our Athletics Season. Our Year 3 to 6 students enjoyed competing at the domain first and were blessed with a beautiful warm sunny day.

Last week our Kinders enjoyed their first Athletics Carnival as the Prep to Year 2 students helped demonstrate how it is done. It was an exciting time for all involved with a large family audience to cheer them on. Congratulations to Wittenberg who were the house champions for Athletics this year!!

The Huon and Channel Athletics Carnival completed our Athletics events with the winners from the Year 3 to 6 carnival competing against other schools last Friday. Congratulations to all who participated and represented Calvin.

Calvin students, Lachlan, Hailee, Thomson and Leah, represented our school at the Kingston Beach Remembrance Day Service on Saturday.

A Service of Thanksgiving for Christine Woolley

A Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the life of Chris will be held at St Matthews Anglican Church, Bathurst Street, New Norfolk on Monday 20 November 2023 at 1.30pm. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.

Chris was for many years a long standing member of staff at Christian Schools Tasmania. Starting at Northern Christian School as a teacher in 1996 and becoming Principal until 2016.
