It has been a pleasure to be part of the team for our two major productions this year; Pride and Prejudice and Peter Pan. The creative collaboration with students has been an absolute joy. It has also been rewarding to witness their teamwork, communication, creativity and problem-solving. Whether acting, working backstage, operating lighting and sound or helping with sets and costumes, every student has contributed to a brilliant result. These experiences help students develop skills they can carry into future careers. I have been in awe of their abilities and commitment. Applications are again open for early entry to UTAS, with second round applications closing on Monday 7 September. The date is also approaching for applications though VTAC, UAC, QTAC etc, which handle applications for all courses in their respective states via one application. In this edition we have articles about careers in nanotechnology as well as a job spotlight on becoming a Community Liaison Officer. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you or your child would like to meet and discuss any work, subject or career related issues. I am available during the school term on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday between 8.00am and 4.00pm. To make an appointment please visit my booking calendar or contact me by email at awright@calvin.tas.edu.au. Students may make an appointment during school time as appropriate.
