Parent/Teacher Talks

On Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 March we will be holding our Parent Teacher talks. These sessions are an opportunity for parents to share insights about their children so that a fuller picture of their development can be understood by our teachers.

Talks can be booked on SchoolInterviews using the links below:

Music - Private Lessons

Individual lessons make a huge impact on a student's progress in music classes and their ability to contribute to groups such as Concert Band, Development Band, Vocal Group and Worship Band. We currently have tutors for the following instruments: piano, voice, guitar, trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, saxophone, drum kit and electronic music. Lessons are normally during school hours. If your child is interested please email music@calvin.tas.edu.au and we will connect you with a tutor.

NAPLAN 2025

Each year, students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the National Assessment Programme – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). The results are used to measure individual students’ and student cohorts’ educational outcomes in literacy (reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.

The assessments will be conducted across two weeks this year from 12 to 24 March with opportunity for catch up of missed tests. The assessments will occur within class time and will be supervised by Calvin Christian School staff. The Parent and Carers Information sheet contains details of NAPLAN online. A simple English version is also available.

Students in Years 7 and 9 will need to supply their own headphones for all tests.

Student Withdrawals

Parents may choose to withdraw their students from NAPLAN or, in certain circumstances, they may receive an exemption. If you wish to withdraw your child, please contact the School to advise us and complete the required document prior to 7 March.

For Our Secondary Students

SEQTA Learning Management System

Parents and Carers of new students to Calvin in Years 7-12 should connect to SEQTA Engage in order to access their child's course outlines, class content, assessments, feedback/marks, timetables and reports.

New Parents and Carers will need to create an account using the link that was emailed last week. You can also download the SEQTA Engage App via your preferred App Store.

Further information about connecting to SEQTA Engage is available via the Parents Page of the website. There will be an Information Session about this at the Senior Campus Community BBQ on Monday 24 February.

Maths Tutorials

For students seeking additional support with their Mathematics questions, a tutorial group will be running in the Library on Tuesdays from 3:20-4:00pm with Mr de Puit.  Tutorials commence next Tuesday 25 February and run during term time.

Catch-Up Clinic - Supporting your academic health

This year we have introduced a new structure for secondary students to assist them with assessment submissions. It is called the “Catch-Up Clinic” and will run every day at lunch time. If a student misses a due date for an assignment or test, their class teacher will refer them to the Clinic where a Calvin staff member will assist them in completing their overdue assessment.

Medications

If your child requires or has a Medical Action Plan for Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy or any other significant medical condition please make sure the current version of this is supplied to the School Office on the Campus your child attends as soon as possible.

You can let the School Offices know if your child will be absent in the following ways:

If your child is arriving at School late, please ensure they sign in at the relevant School Office.

Excursion/Activity Consent

Don’t forget to update your contact details and your child’s medical details using Consent2Go. Information provided by parents ensures timely and accurate care for your child in the case of an emergency. This program is also used to collect consent for excursions, camps and a variety of other school activities. Parents/Carers will have received an email regarding access to this system.
