ENROLMENTS - Kinder and Year 7 2027We are currently collecting enrolments for Kinder and Year 7 in 2027. If you are a current school family and have a child eligible for these Year levels next year please contact enrolments at enrolments@calvin.tas.edu.au. Offers for these Year levels will be handed out in Term 2. Due to the high demand for places we cannot guarantee a position for existing families who apply after this time. If you have a child currently enrolled in Year 6 at Channel or Calvin you do not need to contact us as we will confirm your positions shortly. Learning, Assessment and HomeworkStudents from Years 7 to 12 at Calvin are expected to undertake regular homework outside of class time in order to consolidate learning, extend understanding, engage in reading and complete assessment tasks. The Parents page of the website contains a number of academic policies that outline our expectations for homework and assessment, including the Homework Timetable and the Extension Request (Assessment Appeal Request) that must be completed in order to request an extension for assignments. The Academic Assessment Policy and the AI guidelines are also important documents and they will be discussed with students during assembly in the coming weeks. Students may require access to our Learning Management System (SEQTA Learn) or other online sources to complete homework or assignments. If devices or internet access are not available from home, students are welcome to work in the Calvin Library from 8.30am until 4.30pm from Monday to Thursday and until 4.00pm on Friday. SATIS SportsCalvin is part of the Sports Association of Tasmanian Independent Schools (SATIS), an organisation where independent schools compete against each other in various sports. It is term based, meaning the sports rotate across school terms. In Term 1, we have entered a Year 7/8 Girls Soccer Team on Wednesday afternoons, a Year 7 and a Year 8 Boys Basketball Team on Thursday afternoons and a Year 9 Boys Basketball Team on Wednesday afternoons, with all games starting next week. Information regarding this has been sent to all families whose children registered. If you didn't receive anything, please get in contact with Mr Bosker. NAPLAN 2026Each year, students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the National Assessment Programme – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). The results are used to measure individual students and student cohorts, educational outcomes in literacy (reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The assessments will be conducted across two weeks this year from 11 to 23 March with opportunity for catch up of missed tests. The assessments will occur within class time and will be supervised by Calvin Christian School staff. The Parent and Carers Information sheet contains details of NAPLAN online. A simple English version is also available. Students in Years 7 and 9 will need to supply their own headphones for all tests. Student Withdrawals Parents may choose to withdraw their students from NAPLAN or, in certain circumstances, they may receive an exemption. If you wish to withdraw your child, please contact the School to advise us and complete the required document prior to 10 March. Student Adjustments For information about test adjustments for Learning Enrichment students, contact Mrs de Kievit.
