WHOLE SCHOOL

Our School and the Christian Schools Tasmania (CST) office will be closed on 22 September for the Queen’s Memorial Public Holiday.

Oliebollen Festival

A wonderful time was had at our annual Oliebollen Festival on Saturday despite the rain!

We would like to say a huge thank you to all our volunteers who valiantly persevered despite the rain and muddy conditions! This event couldn’t happen without your help!

School Prayer Group

Each Thursday morning at 8.30am a group of parents and staff meet in the Principal’s Office to pray for our school and our community. They would love to welcome more people to the group. It doesn’t need to be a weekly commitment, just turn up when you can.

Inter-school Chess Tournament

On 8 September, Calvin hosted an inter-school chess tournament! Our Primary and Secondary students came second in their divisions. Congratulations to Year 12 student Anya for taking out third place overall!

PRIMARY NEWS

Year 4 News

On Friday 19 August, Year 4 students organised a class Frozie Cup stall and all profits earned were donated to our school's sponsor children..

Year 4 students served all year levels during lunch time as they sold their delicious Frozie Cups, helping to strengthen our school community and build bonds throughout the primary school as well as give back to those in need.

Not only did this experience help those in need, it served as a learning opportunity for students to face and solve real world math problems.

The students were asked to create a budget, solve for profits and expenses and work as a team running their own business for the day!

Year 4 would like to say an enormous thank you to our whole school community for being involved in our fundraising event allowing us to learn and give back to those in need.

Heritage Day

On Thursday 1 September, students on the Primary Campus celebrated Heritage day. Students and staff dressed in sixties attire and went back in time in the classroom. Make-shift slates, pictures of the Queen and a drink of milk were all part of the experiences students encountered. The day was completed with a special assembly and a celebratory cake.

Operation Christmas Child

The Primary Campus is collecting filled shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child this year. Filled shoeboxes can be returned to the office from now until mid October. Instructions can be found online on how to fill a shoebox. Empty boxes can be collected from the Primary Office.

Soccer BBQ

On Saturday 17 September we will be celebrating the end of the 2022 Soccer season with a BBQ for all Soccer families.

Families are invited to join us for a BBQ lunch, parents vs kids soccer matches and medal presentations. If you are able to assist with the BBQ, please contact the Primary Office.

Footy Colours Day

Students are invited to wear their favourite sport team’s colours for a gold coin or Qkr donation on Friday 23 September. A BBQ lunch will be supplied.
If you are able to assist with the BBQ and have a current Working With Vulnerable People card please contact the Primary Office.

SECONDARY NEWS

We’re in the finals!

Our Senior Girls Netball Team has made it to the finals! They are playing this Monday, 20 September at 4.00pm. The venue is yet to be confirmed. We will update this on our School Calendar. Why don’t you come and cheer them on?

Salvos Winter Sleepout

Our Year 11 and 12 students have have raised $11,465 towards the The Salvation Army Tasmania Winter Sleepout appeal; a phenomenal effort which will do so much to bless and provide for vulnerable and homeless people in Hobart.

On the 1 September they braved the elements on a very cold Kingston evening to sleep outside in our school grounds. Well done Year 11 and 12 that really is an amazing effort!
