The True Light

This week we have had time to celebrate the achievements of our students and the end of the 2025 school year. It was a precious time as we came together in three separate events on Monday to honour the character and achievements of our students. The response I received from parents at those events was a deep appreciation for what community at Calvin means for them.

In the midst of the tragic news of loss and incomprehensible violence targeted against Australians because of their Jewish faith this week, our end of year events felt like a small oasis. The hatred that drove the event in Sydney stands in stark contrast to the hope of God at the heart of our School community and the message of Christmas; the story of hope that we celebrate each year in the birth of a child.

Scripture reminds us that “the true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world”. In dark times, this same passage from John also reminds us that “the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”. May your Christmas celebrations reflect the ‘true light’ of Jesus as you gather with the blessing of family. Thank you for being part of our community.

Congratulations to our Year 12 students on their outstanding TASC results in 2025.

Christian in Year 12 has been recognised in the top 99 students in the state with an exceptional ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank).

Well done to all of our students, we are incredibly proud of you.

Some Reminders from the School Offices…

• If your child requires a Medical Action Plan for Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy or any other significant medical condition please make sure the current version of this is supplied to the School Office on the Campus your child attends as soon as possible.

• You can let the School Offices know if your child will be absent in the following ways: Email absences@calvin.tas.edu.au. Ring the School Office. Primary 6229 3814, Secondary 6229 4829 Or via the Parents Page on our website.

• If your child is arriving at School late, please ensure they sign in at the relevant School Office.

• Please ensure all uniform items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

• All stationery is supplied by the School and will be provided at the beginning of term.

• Thank you for your assistance in helping us care for your children.

Huon Valley TassieLink Buses - Week 1

Services will not be running to Calvin Christian School on the following dates:

• Monday 2 February

• Tuesday 3 February

• Wednesday 4 February

Calvin will be running a shuttle bus to the bus stop in Kingston Central to meet the 711 bus service which leaves at 3.20pm in the afternoons only. Bookings will be required for this. Please contact the relevant School Office to book your child for this shuttle.

Services will recommence on Thursday 5 February.

Parent Prayer Groups

Our parent prayer groups will start again next year. They meet on:

• Wednesday afternoons 2.30pm at the Primary Library

• Friday morning 8.30am om the Principal’s Office

We look forward to meeting with you in 2026 to pray for our School and its community.
