Students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character, or a character from a book they themselves have written.

Reading is one of the most important skills, we use it daily to interact with each other, learn about God from the Bible, and be inspired to make a positive impact in the lives of those around us.

Primary Parade - 9.00am - 10.00am

Primary Soccer teams and their families are invited to join us for a free BBQ in celebration of a wonderful season. There will be Parents vs Students soccer matches.

Come and experience a school festival like no other! Calvin's Annual Oliebollen Festival is back for another huge year.

This year sees the return of the Navy Band, twelve amazing food trucks, as well as croquettes and of course, our famous Oliebollen! Parents will still enjoy the Auction, Craft Stall and Farmers' Market. Children will be well entertained with rides, Tombola, Showbags, Facepainting and lots more. All stalls will have cashless payment options.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data

Student numbers for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) for students with a disability will be counted and forwarded to Education Authorities in August.

Year 10 Subject Selection Expo

On Thursday 10 August during periods 5 and 6, Year 10 Calvin students will be attending our Subject Selection Expo in the Calvin Secondary Library. This expo is designed to assist these students in making their subject choices for Years 11 and 12.

Bush Tucker Garden

We are very thankful to Woolworths and Junior Landcare for supporting us with $1000 towards our new Primary Bush Tucker Garden. We are very excited to start creating our peaceful space and fill it with delicious native edible foods. We will be able to learn about, taste and cook some of the foods eaten by the local Palawa people.

We are asking for any helpers (young and old) who may like to come collecting some lovely lichen covered rocks at South Lea (beside the Southern Outlet) on Saturday 5 August at 1.00pm. If you have a sturdy 4WD and trailer we would also love to hear from you as the rough road may be slippery by early August. Please contact Lindy Bailey or the Primary Office if you can assist.

Endeavour Community Health Survey

A reminder that we would greatly value your responses to the Community Health Audit you will have received in the mail last term. There is still time to return it in the stamped envelope provided with the survey. Thank you to those who have completed the survey and provided valuable feedback.

In Our Classrooms

It was exciting having our students return to school after the Winter break last Thursday. There was much excitement as they shared their experiences from their holidays.

Year 5/6 Smith/Yost have been studying the 1800s in Semester 1. Yesterday families enjoyed viewing the culmination of their investigations.

Out and About

Congratulations to Year 8 student, Matilda, who represented Tasmania (and Calvin Christian School) at the U15 School Sport National Championships for Australian Rules Football held in Ballarat.

The freedom for Calvin Christian School to choose to employ Christian teachers and staff is fundamental to who we are as a Christian school. There is currently a proposal from the Australian Law Reform Commission to remove legal protections that allow Christian schools to employ staff whose beliefs align with our school. Under the current policy proposals:

Christian schools won’t be able to recruit only staff who live their Christian faith.
Christian schools won’t be able to provide an integrated, Christian education.
Parents will no longer have the choice of a genuine Christian education for their children.

By removing the ability of Christian schools to hire people who live and breathe the Christian faith, the Government is removing the heart of what makes Christian schools special.
