Welcome to a special National Careers Week edition of Pathways Connections!

I have been preparing for an exciting series of career learning activities that will take place this term. This week, we will welcome special guest Tyson Day from Arrive and Thrive to share his expertise and insights with students in Years 10-12, focusing on career design, values, AI and the future of work. We also look forward with anticipation to our Life Library event, taking place next Thursday, 21 May. Members of our community will share their personal career stories with students, giving them a valuable window into the world of work.

In this edition, we have articles about screenwriting for short films, the valuable skills you learn by playing an instrument and where tourism can take you as well as a job spotlight on becoming a materials engineer.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you or your child would like to meet and discuss any work, subject or career-related issues. I am available during the school term on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday between 8.00am and 4.00pm. Life Library 2026

We are so excited to be holding our Life Library next Thursday in the Senior Library. This event offers Years 10-12 students a chance to meet and hear from a wide range of volunteer community members about their career journey. An afternoon session will take place during PDP and an evening session at 6.00pm. Refreshments will be on offer for parents while they wait during the evening session. A sign up sheet will go live for Years 10-12 students during homeroom on Wednesday.
