We Love the Outdoors
At Calvin Christian School we have an exciting and comprehensive Outdoor Education program.
We provide all students from Kindergarten to Year 12 with an opportunity to live, work and relate with others in an appropriately challenging setting.
Outdoor Education begins in the Primary School and involves opportunities for students to enhance their understanding of the world around them. Field trips, excursions and visits to places of interest are part of every year group’s teaching and learning program. Year 5 and 6 students visit Canberra every second year, helping shape a sense of place, as well as building and developing leadership skills.
Years 7 - 9
Students engage in a range of activities through the co-curricular program and each year level has an annual camp that includes elements of adventure education.
Years 10 - 12
Students have the opportunity to undertake formal study in the areas of Outdoor Education (Year 10), and Adventure Education and Outdoor Leadership (Year 11 & 12). Through extended participation, these courses provide the opportunity to acquire a greater understanding of planning and safe conduct, as well as the development of leadership skills.
