Futures…
There were many happy and smiley faces at the school gate this morning.
Engaging with students on the Junior Campus, there was an overwhelming since of joy in re-connection and hopefulness. It was wonderful to hear about holiday travels, changes since last term, and even competition successes and their hopes for the coming days and weeks.
Part of the joy for teachers and parents alike is seeing a sense of hopefulness in our children as they consider the future, short or long term. Futures are an important focus during Term 2. The term is filled with events and activities that ask us as parents, and some of our older students, to either begin or to continue thinking about their future and what shape that might take. As parents, these are important conversations to prioritise and normalise as we share the excitement, possibilities and potential concerns that our children have for the future.

Offers for Kindergarten and Year 7 for 2027 are made this term and subject selection decisions for those entering Years 11 and 12 will follow our Subject Selection Expo (24 June). For parents of Year 6 and Year 10 students, our Discover Calvin event this Thursday evening at 6:30pm is filled with information about next steps.
For our Senior students, our Pathways Program in Term 2 includes the Life Library on 21 May and the Arrive and Thrive Careers event on 14 May. For parents of students from Kinder to Year 7, our Parent Forum on 21 May with Daniel Sih (author of Raising Tech Healthy Humans) will give good practical advice about managing tech in a way that will build strength in our family relationships and discernment for our children in their current and future decision-making.
As a school, our goal is to work with you as parents to prepare and equip our students for life. Sometimes it is easy to consider this with a finite view – that we are preparing and equipping them for career and work or for future study. Our goal is actually much broader and encompasses a vision for life that considers character, faith, and a hope of life and future that is undaunted by challenges to come. As Paul writes in Romans, a hope founded in God as he builds character “…does not disappoint, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts…”.
We look forward to working with you this term and in the terms to come as we build hope-filled futures for our students.
