Learning Outside the Classroom
Over the past few days, I had the privilege of attending the Year 3 camp.
It was a great joy to see our students thriving in an environment beyond the classroom. Camps like these provide a wonderful opportunity for children to grow in confidence, independence and resilience, and our Year 3 students certainly rose to the occasion.
One of the highlights was giving students the opportunity to engage in a variety of team challenges. It was inspiring to see them collaborate, communicate and demonstrate problem-solving skills as they worked together to overcome obstacles. Students who sometimes find the classroom challenging were able to showcase their thinking skills and abilities in this new setting. Whether it was navigating tricky scenarios or encouraging one another through difficult moments, they showed perseverance and camaraderie in equal measure.
The flying fox, where I was stationed, proved to be both a challenge and a triumph for many. I witnessed acts of real courage as students stepped outside their comfort zones, some feeling nervous at first but choosing bravery nonetheless. I must admit, I even had a turn myself! It was a wonderful way to connect with the students and share in their excitement and sense of accomplishment.

Beyond the structured activities, the camp offered rich experiences such as orienteering, where students honed their navigation skills and the much-loved campfire evening. Gathering together, sharing a devotion and enjoying toasted marshmallows created special moments of community and joy that will not soon be forgotten.
As a Christian School, we value opportunities for students to grow not only academically, but also socially, emotionally and spiritually. It was heartening to see friendships deepen and character develop in such a meaningful setting. I am so proud of our Year 3 students and grateful to the staff who made this experience possible. A special thank you to Mrs Lammerding, Mrs Cutlack, Mrs van Emmerik and Mrs Smith!
