Getting to know our new team…

One of the wonderful aspects of our School is the ways that we are able to work together as a wider school community to support the children in our care.

Each of our staff members, has a responsibility to care for our young people and to act as a role model of Christian faith.  This year we have welcomed two new staff members to our Wellbeing Support Team, Elora Kingsbury (our new Chaplain working across the School) and Rosie Hays (née Maxwell), who was our School Chaplain previously and has returned to work as our Primary Counsellor.  It is such a blessing to be able to call on the resources of a range of skilled staff members in support of our student community.  Below are two introductions to these new staff members, please make them feel welcome as you have a chance to connect with them, perhaps at one of our upcoming Community BBQs.

Scott Ambrose - Principal

It is a privilege to join the Calvin Christian School community as Chaplain and to walk alongside students as they grow in who they are and who God has called them to be. It is not lost on me how significant and refreshing it is to be part of a thriving, Christ-centred community committed to nurturing and emboldening each student to live with faith, courage and compassion.

I have spent the past six years working in schools across learning enrichment, wellbeing initiatives and school counselling. My heart as a Chaplain is to offer holistic pastoral care to students, staff and families, so that each person feels seen, heard and deeply valued. I believe school is not only a place for academic learning, but also for emotional, social and spiritual flourishing, and I feel honoured to come alongside students as they navigate their highs, lows and everything in between.

From my very first day, I have felt so warmly welcomed by this wonderful community, and I look forward to continuing to get to know the students, staff and families who call Calvin home.

My prayer is that every student would know they belong, that they are cherished, and that school would be a place where they feel safe, to be curious and to be shaped into the people that God has created them to be.

Elora Kingsbury - School Chaplain

My name is Rosie Hays and I am excited to return to Calvin Christian School this year. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working at Calvin Christian School in a variety of roles, each of which has deepened my appreciation for our vibrant, caring, and faith-filled community.

Last year, I took leave to pursue a valuable opportunity as a Counsellor on the North-West Coast of Tasmania. During that time, I was able to broaden my professional experience, further develop my skills in supporting young people and families, and gain fresh insights into student wellbeing across diverse contexts. It was a season of growth that strengthened my passion for walking alongside children as they navigate challenges, build resilience, and discover their unique strengths.

I am pleased to be back in the role of School Counsellor in the Junior Campus and I am excited to reconnect with our students, families, and staff. I look forward to partnering with parents and teachers to support and empower our students in their growth and wellbeing—helping them to develop confidence, emotional awareness, positive relationships, and a strong sense of identity. It is a privilege to journey with our young people as they learn, grow, and flourish, and I am excited for the year ahead.
