Rolling up your sleeves…
I am not sure how many of you made it to our annual Oliebollen Festival on 13 September?
It is usually such a throng that I get to see some but not all of those who visit us on the day. Having said that, I did see many parents (and grandparents), not to mention the students visiting or volunteering with one of our groups on the day.
Part of the strength of our community lies in the commitment and engagement of our parents. As partners in this educational endeavour and for the sake of your children, it is so good to see parents engaged in the life of the School. I believe it speaks to our children of community, commitment and relationship that ultimately impacts upon their sense of belonging and engagement.
It is fundamentally good for our children to see their parents committed to their education and the community that provides it. I am so appreciative of our parent body who make the effort to:
Get to know their child’s teacher,
Support their child’s learning through interest and good conversations,
Attend school events, including parent-teacher, and/or
Contribute to the life of our community through their presence and support.
“Thank you for the ways that you have supported Calvin Christian School this term...”
Part of what I enjoy about the Oliebollen Festival is the extended members of our community, those with a relational connection or with no connection at all, who are able to join us for the Festival. The Oliebollen Festival, like our Walking in the Light Event, is a wonderful opportunity to share the heart of our School with a wider audience. My hope is that the message conveyed is one of hope, faith, and a connected and supportive community in action.
When our parents are involved positively in the life of the School, we all benefit. Thank you for the ways that you have supported Calvin Christian School this term, including through your encouragement of your child to attend and give of their best. I appreciate your commitment to Christian Education through our School community.
