Walking in the Light

On Friday we saw the culmination of many weeks of effort and planning come together as we celebrated the changing seasons with our ‘Walking in the Light’ festival.

This event aims to share the heart of our school with our community as well as celebrating student work and creativity with family and friends.

When walking around the windows, it was great to see excited students showing their class displays to family members, often pointing out the parts they had contributed. It was also encouraging to hear discussion about the meaning of the images and see students talk about how their artwork related to the Bible verse their class had chosen.

This year, the School theme was the Psalms. Fittingly, the Psalms teach us to turn to God in every season — joy, sorrow, fear or praise. They remind us of God’s faithfulness, love and power. Through honest prayer and heartfelt worship, the Psalms help us grow in trust and deepen our relationship with God, no matter what we face each day. This is a message that we have the privilege of sharing with our students on a daily basis. We cherish the opportunity that Walking in the Light provides to share this message with our greater community.

Thank you to the Calvin Community Engagement Committee for initiating and running this event, including the spectacular fireworks display! Thank you to teachers and support staff for their outstanding work bringing this event to life and creating art and craft, helping to facilitate conversations and community.
